Steven Miles

Dr. Steven A. Miles is a Professor of Medicine and Medical Oncology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is also an attending physician at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. 

 

After a long and distinguished career in basic and clinical research, Dr. Miles’ focus is on the treatment of patients with hepatocellular cancer, rare and complex cancers, transplant immunology and its complications. 

 

Dr. Miles is internationally known for his work in clinical research. Over a 25-year span, he led numerous clinical trials of new agents for cancer patients, organized multiple National Cancer Institute (NCI) cooperative group cancer trials and presented his findings in over 11 countries on four continents. He is in the top 5% lifetime of all NIH grant award winners.

 

 Dr. Miles has extensive experience in clinical research methods, including phase-1 to phase-3 clinical trials. Dr. Miles is also an accomplished writer, publishing more than 200 articles in prestigious medical journals and books, including Nature, Science, the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), Blood, Journal of Clinical Oncology and the Annals of Internal Medicine. In addition, he has authored definitive chapters in DaVita’s Cancer, Haskell’s Cancer Treatment. His is one of the most cited medical researchers in the world with over 2,850 citations. 

 

Dr. Miles graduated cum laude with dual degrees in Chemistry and Biology from the University of California, Irvine. He earned his medical degree cum laude from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. where he was elected a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor medical society.
